Go To Him
Today we are going to take a short break in our study of the spiritual gifts to examine a verse that has always been a favorite of mine. Matthew 11:28 is a verse that is used by many to try to witness to non-believers. However, that is not its only use.
“28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
As I have said, this is a verse that is commonly used to show those who are seeking Christ that He is bigger than their problems. However, this verse does not apply only to non-believers. In Jesus’s own words He states that all who are weary and burdened should come to Him. This verse holds great impact for the believers and reminds us that Christ is bigger than our problems. When we feel weary and burdened from the events that life throws, but we do not have to go through it alone. We need to cast our fears, worries, and stress onto Jesus Christ. He is the only One who can give us true rest.
This is a fact that I feel many Christians today forget about. It is almost as if they forget that God is the key for their peace. “27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27. We cannot forget that we can turn to Jesus Christ who is the Great Comforter. So if you find yourself feeling weary or burdened, remember to seek Christ for your peace.
Seek the truth and encourage one another,
Alex
